Driving
the main road to Chalkidiki, 65 kilometres from the airport
of Thessaloniki is the beautiful seaside village of Nea
Fokea with its excellent beaches, clear blue waters and
its picturesque port. During summer time, on the hill
where the byzantine tower of Nea Fokea stands, various
festivals take place along whith cultural events as art
and book exhibitions, or exhibitions of Local Products.
Other cultural events take place, as the festivity of
Apostles Peter and Apostle Paul (Petros Kai Paulos) on
June 29th and 30th, with local events, plenty of wine,
music and dancing. The feast is taking place at the yard
of a small church which consists of a 25 meter catacomb
ending to a small fountain and a chamber that was originally
intended for a Macedonian tomb. The village of Nea Fokea
Is the second largest village of Kassandra with considerable
tourism infrastructure and is known for its excellent
fish taverns and restaurants where you can enjoy fresh
fish and the famous geek cuisine. Finaly The next bank
is at the distance of 6 km.
